“I had the pleasure of staying for a week while attending clinicals, and I found the home to be wonderfully cozy, providing a sense of safety and comfort. The serene environment allowed me to unwind after long days of work. This location serves as an ideal base for exploring both downtown Chicago and Grand Rapids, Michigan. One suggestion for improvement would be to consider adding a plug-in air freshener to enhance the overall ambiance”

“Sister Lake Cottage #1 could not have worked out better for us (2). Would be a "tight squeeze" to have a party of six staying here. But, location, amenities, and other, were first-rate. Real easy to visit local restaurants right down the street, and evening ice cream watching the sunset. Super close to the wedding venue, and local church... And Dowagiac is just 15 minutes down the road for some bonus shopping and "eats". The place was very tidy, cozy, and well appointed. Used the private patio and fire-pit. Even got some fishing in. Easy to recommend!”

“Very cute, little cabin for our family of 5. We only needed it overnight, as we were visiting friends on the lake for the day. Everything was made easy for us, and we appreciate that.”

“We rented this cottage and another for a family wedding and this place was close to everything. It’s walking distance to coffee, breakfast, the beach and local nightlife. Good things- communal fire pit and private one for this cottage; Comfy king bed; water pressure; basic kitchen needs; crockpot; charcoal grills. There was plenty of room outside so we set up a blackstone to make breakfast to deliver to the wedding party . Other notes- The bathroom is inside the bedroom; more hooks and storage for personal belongings. Would be nice; There was an old dresser in the bedroom where shelves would be more practical. There was no shelf in the shower to put toiletries. The floor is painted concrete so I would recommend slippers or house shoes. There was no outlet in the loft for charging devices and the light didn’t work. The good points and location far out weigh what was lacking and justify a higher rating. I would definitely rent again and especially from this host. Thank you!”

“We really enjoyed our stay. My wife and I were in town to meet our new nephew, and this provided a place for us to stay that was comfortable and quiet. We really enjoyed it, and will be looking to stay there again when we are in town to visit family.”

“The place is just fantastic if you’re looking for peace and quiet and you want to get away from the big city life wherever you live this is the place to come and enjoy the country fresh vegetables, fruit dairy freshwater minutes away from Lake Michigan +10 sister Lakes walking distance to two of them. I can’t say enough Highly recommended. And budget friendly prices and the staff and team are fantastic.”

“Wow. What a cute and cozy place for an extended weekend. Host (Sage), was extremely responsive. Cottage was clean, tidy… loved it. The only thing I would recommend is to put curtains on the bedroom window. It was very bright early in the morning when the sun came up. Also. perhaps a shelf on the shower wall so that you don’t have to lean down to get your toiletries off the shower floor.”

“We had a great 1st visit to Dowagiac and enjoyed our stay! We found some yummy restaurants nearby : Propaganda Pizza & Brunch at The Wright Place. The loft is great for kids and teens to sleep.”

“Great little stay right in the middle of sister lakes. While it was cute it does need some updating- patches on paint in a couple places and a better mattress. Well water, so leaves a strong smell.”

“My boyfriend and I loved our stay at this cozy cabin! The space was clean, comfortable, and had a wonderful charm that made our weekend getaway extra special. We did encounter a minor issue with a leaking A/C, but the hosts were responsive and helpful in addressing it. Despite this, the cabin was so enjoyable that we’d happily stay again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat!”

“Besides the kitchen not being cleaned and the bathroom vanity not being wiped down, the rest of the cottage was clean and matched their description perfectly! The host responded very quickly at all times and they sent us a link to a guestbook regarding our stay! We would definitely go again if visiting the area! We rented kayaks and were able to kayak and fish on the lake behind the cottage!”

“Great location! Sister lakes is a great place for a vacation. The cottage was nice, mostly clean but smaller than expected. It should be noted that the cottage runs on well water which does make the water smell. Overall, the cottage was nice and the host was very responsive!”

“I would say for the price of it being close to a lake it’s affordable however I wish they would have had a beach area cleaned out to use, perhaps had a beach umbrella to use for the stay and would promote other things to do around their!”

“The town is so cute! The driftwood summer shop and dockside dining was so yummy and just a one minute walk away! However, besides that there isn’t much to do. I wish the host had left some things like pool noodles / floats or paddle boards to be able to enjoy the lake a little more. The dock also wasn’t clearly marked so it was a little hard to find. It also wasn’t a big dock :/ The place was amazingly clean besides the AC vent, shower and sink. Those required a wipe down. The rest of the unit was sparkling clean. The water had a strong smell to it , almost like it’s well water, but the water pressure and water temp was amazing. A few TLC things like fixing paint, slightly broken or dinghy items would really up the place. The loft is extremely small. But the king bed was SO comfortable! I slept great in it! The cottage was well decorated. I wish it came with some board games ! All the big beach towns were 30-40 min away which sucked but was manageable. Overall a great stay!”
